Absolutely pristine, crisp and zesty in the mouth and finishes with a vibrant tropical / nettle flourish. Light and fresh as can be.

"This is bigger, more thought-out sauvignon than your average Kiwi, and certainly a lot more chop than your average Adelaide Hillsby. Rather than simple grass and acid, it offers layers of complex tropical fruits, with cantalope, banana, custard apple, and jackfruit predominant. There's a cheeky top note of phosphate and burlap, and a neat turn of Chinese gooseberry acid in the finish, but it's really a grand, healthy, viscous beauty. All that plush yellow flesh!"

One of the most concentrated NZ Sauvignon Blancs, with one of the longest finishes, a set of tastes and aromas that continues into infinite. The bouquet transforms from gooseberries to citrus and grapefruit. The unique Gravitas vineyards have a terroir that bring a slight mineral note to this wine, unusual for Marlborough. Suggestion of oak though none used, from keeping the wine on lees for several months.

The wine is light straw in colour with green highlights. Ripe capsicum aromas dominate, along with hints of passionfruit, excellent gooseberry, grapefruit and gunsmoke, multi citrus with lively tropical fruit notes all around. This wine displays full fruit intensity, the ripe green capsicum extends to the palate, melding with supporting mango and ripe passionfruit flavours. A well-balanced wine showing the lively, crisp acidity associated with this style.

The 2007 vintage was characterised by moderate yields and ideal growing conditions. Marlborough experienced poor flowering in December, resulting in a ‘tempering’ of yields. From the end of January to harvest rainfall was low and the days were sun-drenched allowing for fruit to be harvested in prime condition and at the ideal point in its flavour development and balance.

This Sauvignon Blanc is bursting with ripe gooseberry, citrus lime, tropical melon and exotic herbal aromas. The wine’s layers of flavour excite and intrigue. It is a fresh and ripely flavoured wine with fantastic intensity, finishing with crisp and racy acidity.
