Exquisite parcels of Block 20 Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon, Koonunga Hill and Kalimna Vineyard Barossa shiraz were identified and separately vinified at Magill and Nuriootpa in open and closed headed down fermenters. Towards dryness, the wine was racked into 100% new oak where the wine completed fermentation. After malolactic fermentation individual components were classified and then selected for inclusion into the 2004 Penfolds Bin 60a blend.

Deep in colour, this youthful elemental wine shows a miraculous overlapping of aromas and flavours. The regional characters of both Coonawarra and the Barossa Valley are finely poised. The highly perfumed chamomile/violet/mocha aromas, immense concentration, savoury flavours and classically structured palate are in superb balance. This beautifully refined cross-regional/varietal with its meaty nuances and fine-grained tannins will continue to evolve in the cellar for decades.

Deep black cherry.

An alluring assortment of uplifted black cherries, dark berry fruits, scorched almonds, coffee, tobacco leaves and licorice allsorts.

A well-structured wine with layers of plump plum and blackberry fruits combined with a mix of savoury spices, subtle herbs and firm, dusty tannins.

The wine is rich red in colour with purple hues.

Impressive aromas of perfumed Grenache grapes, red roses, cinnamon spice, turkish delight, raspberry and a hint of chocolate emanate from the glass.

The harmonious palate is mouth filling with intense pure fruit flavours balanced with subtle chalky tannins and a smooth texture. A generous finish completes this opulent wine.

Deep red colour.

Concentrated aromas of ripe blackcurrant and black cherries, with a touch of charry French oak complimenting the fruit characters. Also some dark chocolate and violet/leafy notes showing. Typical Dogwalk.

Rich flavours of ripe, dark fruits and chocolate are the features here with ripe tannins, subtle oak and balanced acidity keeping the wine focused.

Medium density, bright red

Typical dusty, dark cherry and dried flowers plus some subtle oak aromas deliver an enticing amalgam of aromas. Quite perfumed really.

Again this is absolutely typical of this noble Tuscan variety. Medium weight cherry fruit, bright acid and firm, dry tannins form a structure that could only point towards the Sangiovese grape.

Mountadam Barossa Cabernet Merlot is a blend of the classic Bordeaux varieties. Fruit is sourced from both High Eden and the Barossa floor. This combination produces wines that have the elegance of the cooler Eden Valley and the richness of the traditional Barossa Valley wines. The relatively small quantity we make is an opportunity for us to hand craft a unique blend of Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The wine has a colour of medium depth with subtle purple tinges. The aromas show typical Cabernet spice underpinned with dark rich ripe plum fruit characters from the Merlot component. The palate is of medium weight with firm tannin structure. Hints of fennel, coconut and seductive tobacco complement the primary grape flavours.

A youthful, elegant, flavoursome Margaret River blend. A deep red with vibrant plum-coloured hues. Rich, spiced berry and mulberry fruit, coupled with ripe red currant and plum, feature on the nose. Hints of toasted vanilla and black olive support these aromas. Rounded and elegant in texture. The wine displays fine acid and tannin structure balanced by the intense berry fruit flavours and rich spice characters. Enjoy with beef casserole, barbecued duck and soft cheeses.

This rich Barossa Cabernet Merlot has been lovingly crafted by the winemakers at Barossa Valley Estate's new winery at Marananga in the heart of the Barossa. The 2003 Epiphany Cabernet Merlot exhibits blackberry and ripe red fruit aromas with subtle oak nuances. The medium bodied palate is highlighted by rich red fruit character and is complemented by a fine tannin structure, giving the wine a great balance and persistence of flavour.

The 2004 vintage was marked by dry, warm to hot conditions throughout the southwest of Western Australia (WA). These conditions lead to disease-free grapes with ripe fruit flavours and moderate acidity levels.

In relative terms the Protégé wines are positioned between the Sandalford Premium (Margaret River) range and the entry-level Element (WA) range.
